Max Planck moving forward in Jupiter

For the first time in its 60-year history, Germany's internationally acclaimed Max Planck Society is underway with the establishment of a research institute in the United States, called the Max Planck Florida Institute. Due to officially open in 2011, the planned 100,000-square-foot research facility with laboratories will be a neighbor to Scripps Florida on six acres at Florida Atlantic University's MacArthur Campus in Jupiter. The new institute will commence operations in a temporary facility in Jupiter in the summer of 2009 before moving into its permanent home.

The Max Planck Society is an independent, non-profit scientific research organization with an annual operating budget of $1.8 billion and 81 institutes located through the European Union and now in the United States. The Society pioneers research at the frontiers of human knowledge in the natural sciences, life sciences, and the humanities. It has 17 Nobel Prize Laureates to its credit since its inception in 1948, a staff of 13,000, and an additional 12,000 fellows of the International Max Planck Research Schools, doctoral students, post-doctoral students, assistants and visiting scientists. The organization is credited with 1,000 inventions, averages 120-150 new patents each year, and has earned numerous scientific and academic awards. Most recently, Max Planck scientists were part of NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander Team that received the 2009 Swigert Award for Space Exploration for developing the sensor used on the robotic arm of the Lander that led to one of the most startling and meaningful discoveries of the new millennium.

Publix to begin construction of new center at Evergrene in Palm Beach Gardens

All of the trailers in the former RV Park have been removed and the bulldozers will be starting to arrive at the new Frenchman’s Crossing shopping center site.  We are very excited to be moving into the neighborhood and think that everyone will find the new services being offered as an asset to the community.  You all will notice the ground starting to turn soon, with construction set to begin in October 2009.  It is our hope to open Publix in November 2010, just in time for the busy holiday season.   In  addition to Publix Supermarket, there will also be an additional 16,000 square feet of space in the front of the development.  If anybody is interested in leasing space, please give me a call. Again, we are excited to becoming part of your community and look forward to the opening of Frenchman’s Crossing next fall. Contact Donald Urschalitz P.A. 561-685-0976. Don is a resident Realtor of Evergrene and is please to provide you with any information about our beautiful community, you can contact him at Don@Oneworldrealty.com.

FDIC launches foreclosure prevention initiative

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) released a free tool kit of information to help borrowers, community stakeholders and the banking industry avoid unnecessary foreclosures and stop foreclosure “rescue” scams that promise false hope to consumers at risk of losing their homes.

The tool kit helps borrowers understand who to contact and what documents they need to apply for a loan modification that could save their home from foreclosure. The tool kit also describes the warning signs of a potential foreclosure “rescue” scam, and how consumers, community stakeholders and bankers can report scammers and prevent fraud.

The public can access the free tool kit at http://www.FDIC.gov/foreclosureprevention .

“It is vitally important that consumers and bankers know all of the resources available to help prevent unnecessary foreclosures,” says FDIC Chairman Sheila C. Bair.

The FDIC’s foreclosure prevention tool kit includes:

  • “Is Foreclosure Knocking at Your Door?” brochure (available online and in print), which encourages consumers facing financing difficulties to contact their servicer, apply for a loan modification and talk to a counselor.
  • “Beware of Foreclosure Rescue Scams” brochure (available online and in print), which provides information on common scams, tips for detecting fraudulent deals, and resources for reporting criminal activity.
  • Spring 2009 edition of FDIC Consumer News, which features advice for consumers on avoiding foreclosure rescue and loan modification schemes.
  • Your Own Home module of the FDIC’s Money Smart curriculum, which offers tips and advice on avoiding foreclosure with a loan modification, preventing foreclosure “rescue” scams and providing legitimate sources of foreclosure prevention assistance.
